I have been unemployed for over two months now.
I went to lunch with two of my former coworkers last week and they reminded me I should apply for unemployment. Me? File for unemployment?? It seemed so low, so money-sucking, so needy and helpless.
I'm an independent woman!
But I caved and filed. Free money, right? ;)

Its not exactly free money. Taxes will have to be filed on the unemployment compensation. I do not consider it taking advantage of the system. Its there to help you while you are unemployed. In Georgia, as long as you are attending school, your unemployment benefits continue. Taking a few classes could help you get a new career... besides - with the economy the way it is today - every little bit helps.

You were a working citizen. You deserve uneployment until you can find another job.
